The transition from a shelter to permanent supportive housing is a moment of profound victory, yet it is also a point of extreme systemic vulnerability. For many Victory Program clients, the final step remains out of reach simply because they cannot afford the hidden costs of moving.
Funding for client relocation resources in our Community-Based Housing programs has been depleted. Even after an apartment is secured, expenses like moving van rentals, furniture transport, utility connection fees, and basic household items create steep financial hurdles. Without assistance, clients face move-in delays, risk losing hard-won housing opportunities, or start their new chapter in empty apartments without a bed to sleep on.
The Moving Forward Fund provides immediate financial support for essential move-in expenses, ensuring clients step across the threshold into permanent housing with dignity, confidence, and basic household security.
