The BLC serves up 40,000 warm and nutritious meals a year to people living with HIV/AIDS. We serve lunch four days a week and dinner on Monday and Thursday nights. Volunteers are at the heart of the meals program, helping set-up our dining room, prepare and serve food and clean up – washing dishes, pots, pans, sweeping and mopping floors. You can learn more about our meals program on our Nutrition Services page.
Lunch – Tuesday through Friday, 9:30AM – 2:30PM

Paperwork piles up at a large community center like the Boston Living Center. Our staff is always busy and they can always use extra help with filing, data entry, mailings and special projects. Flexible hours based on BLC staff needs.
Computer Lab (Cyberspace)
Are you tech savvy? We often need volunteers to help monitor the computer room and help answer member questions. This volunteer option allows you to a unique opportunity to provide one-on-one support to our members in the lab or teach your own class.
Monday through Friday – hours are flexible.
Certified volunteer massage therapists and energy healers are needed to provide services to our members.
Hours are flexible.
Certified Hairstylists and Barbers
As part of providing a holistic experience for our members, the BLC offers free, dry hair cuts to members with the help of volunteer stylists. All haircuts are done at the BLC in our studio.
Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks at fundraising events. Volunteers may also help in member event preparation and implementation.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
The BLC would also love to hear about your special talents and how you might assist the Center. Do you have a skill you think would benefit our members or staff? We’d love to hear from you!
Groups and Organizations
We are happy to work with small groups (approximately 5 volunteers), but don’t always have the opportunity to accommodate larger groups. If your group is interested in volunteering please contact Volunteer Coordinator Nicholas Oviedo-Torres at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617.318.3434 ext. 147, at least 1 month prior to your desired service date. However, there are other ways your group could help the BLC. For more information, see our Wish List.
