Assisted Living Programs ...represent Victory Programs' on-going commitment to the expansion of housing opportunities available to persons living with both HIV disease and addiction.  The programs included within this initiative are: Cedar House, Yetman House, Victory Transitional House, The Portis Family House, and Women's Hope Transitional Home.

Victory Transitional House  ...is a supportive residential program designed to accommodate six single men living with both HIV disease and addiction.  Both Victory Transitional House  and Women's Hope Transitional Home offer temporary housing to individuals who are recovering from addiction and living with HIV disease.

Through intensive case management and addiction recovery support, the program staffs seek to empower each resident to:

  • Nurture his recovery from alcoholism and/or drug addiction
  • Increase his knowledge of HIV disease and alcoholism/drug addiction
  • Evaluate, develop, and maintain his systems of support
  • Search for and acquire appropriate permanent housing
  • Prepare himself for living in permanent housing

Women's Hope Transitional Home...is a supportive community that can accommodate seven single women.  In addition to the objectives listed above, this program is designed to assist those women to prepare for reunification with their children.  The program is structured to respond effectively to visiting children.  Special support and training for residents in the areas of parenting, violence prevention, and negotiating with the Department of Social Services also will be an integral aspect of the program.

Cedar House...offers permanent housing for two families living with HIV disease.  The newly renovated structure, contains two 4-bedroom apartments.  Both units have Shelter Plus Care subsidies attached to them that are administered through the Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership.  Victory Programs offers off-site case management and support services to the families residing in these units.

In order to support the residents in their pursuit of these program objectives, the staff offers a variety of services including:

Case managed coordination of medical, psychological, and other support services

Housing search counseling, assistance, and advocacy

On-going addiction recovery guidance and support

HIV counseling and support, including wellness education

    Expressive therapies

    Life skills development and guidance

.

Yetman House..offers housing to women who have successfully completed an alcohol and /or drug treatment program.  Yetman House provides a safe and sober environment to continue the recovery work begun in the previous treatment program and to develop the tools necessary for a safe and successful transition into permanent housing.  Through case management and addiction recovery support from peers, the program seeks to empower each resident to maintain systems of support while preparing for independent living.

The Portis Family House- This shelter and transitional housing program will provide support for up to seven families while participating in on-site addiction treatment and comprehensive direct care services.  The program will support homeless families recovering from substance abuse and living with HIV/AIDS.  Families may live in The Portis Family House for up to one year as they receive a safe and structured addiction treatment environment in order to sustain sobriety, coordinate family reunification, and ensure the parent's long term ability to maintain custody, housing and financial independence.
