New Victories....is a four to eight month residential substance abuse treatment program for men from all cultural backgrounds.

Our program has historically been committed to providing treatment to individuals who are both homeless and are seeking recovery from alcohol or other drug dependencies.  We are now playing a leadership role in serving clients with HIV infection and AIDS.

No one is denied admission to New Victories because of these attending health problems or needs.

A New Victories Resident  is usually an alcohol or other drug dependent man who has sustained multiple losses in: his home and family; his friends and job; his health and hope. He may be in his late teens or late sixties.  He may be black or white; Asian or Hispanic; straight or gay. In addition, he may be HIV positive or have AIDS; he may be hearing impaired, epileptic or diabetic; or he may have a history of mental illness.

Our Program...takes place in four phases:
    Orientation

    Commitment to recovery

    Transitional living

    Graduation preparation/Aftercare

    Counseling

From the moment he enters the New Victories program, each resident is encouraged to view his stay here as a four-to-eight month opportunity to recover.  During this time he will learn to build a caring support network that will enable him to achieve wellness and remain sober and clean after he leaves New Victories.

As he progresses through the program, each resident participates in weekly individual and group counseling, community and in-house AA/NA meetings, HIV prevention education, employment counseling, case management and outpatient counseling.
Residents also participate in household work projects.  They have weekly exercise and recreation groups in the Nancy M. Silverman Center as well as a regular opportunity for outside group activities.  In addition, New Victories routinely makes referrals to community training programs, educational groups and vocational agencies.
We are proud.....of our long-standing service record. The New Victories facility has operated an effective halfway house since 1964.  Over the years, we have seen our residents use this opportunity to win ground in their battle against the disease of alcoholism and other drug addictions.
