THE HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION INITIATIVE

The Homelessness Prevention Initiative - In Massachusetts, homelessness has reached crisis levels.  Recent studies show that every evening 1,600 families seek beds in emergency shelters.  As a result, The Boston Foundation spearheaded a $1 million community effort for the prevention of homelessness.  Eighteen agencies, including Victory Programs, were selected to receive funding to target individuals and families at risk.

Victory Programs hired a Homelessness Prevention Specialist to provide housing and
referral services for clients and alumni.  By providing technical guidance for rental assistance
and housing applications, along with credit and money management counseling, Victory
Programs clients develop the skills they need to increase their chances of retaining housing.

The Homelessness Prevention Initiative is currently recruiting volunteers to assist with maintaining and updating list(s) of housing related resources for Victory Program, Inc. homeless clients.
