eVision House, Inc. (RHI) is a community-based,
non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization whose vision is to promote the
self-esteem and well being of young mothers and their children by
providing structured, service-enriched housing for this vulnerable population. The mission of RHI is to
comprehensively address the needs of young mothers and their children, to
provide them with the opportunity to envision a positive and productive
future, and to empower them to reach their goals.
Since RHI opened its doors in 1990, the
shelter has served over 700 young families. RHI provides a safe environment to
families seeking shelter at reVision House, which can assist up to ten
young mothers and their children.
For families needing transitional housing, the Lillie B. Miller
House is available for twelve families to live.
RHI staff believes that to alleviate chronic
homelessness, a holistic approach must be taken with each family that
walks through the Re-Vision House door.
In addition to providing a stable and structured living
environment to homeless families, shelter counselors and staff offer
emotional support, life skills training, assistance in accessing or
completing formal education or vocational training, and permanent housing
placement assistance.
Residents are offered on-site Educational Training in:

ongoing workshops, well-developed referral linkages with community-based

participants including maternal and pediatric health care, mental health
services, child and youth development programs, education, and job
training. RHI also collaborates
with a part-time housing advocate whose primary responsibility is to
assist residents in their permanent housing search. Individual meetings are provided to
ensure that residents are working constructively towards their goals.
