are addressing other significant factors such as HIV/AIDS, mental health issues or substance use disorders.
Created and newly renovated in 2008, the two buildings that comprise Victory Housing on Warren Street have 14 individual apartments each with bathrooms and kitchenette facilities. There are also common areas that include larger cooking and eating facilities for community meals. Residents receive housing subsidies through the Boston Housing Authority and are required to sign and maintain the terms of their lease agreement. The programs’ service model operates under a Concierge who is available to assist residents with issues they encounter as they settle into their new home and increase their stability and independence. Many of the residents at our Warren Street program have been without housing stabilization for many years or for most of their lives. Our Concierges provide our Warren Street residents with services that help them meet the terms of their leases, access employment and job training opportunities and ensure that those seeking recovery services have continued access to our Victory Health programs. Some residents who lost custody of their children are carrying out plans to reunify their families and perhaps move to larger apartments, while others are seeing their Warren Street apartment as a place to call home well into the future. At Victory Housing on Warren Street the tenants have built community to help each other and to welcome new residents. Together they share meals, tell their stories and encourage each other to achieve their goals. |
