6 month program has a long history of providing treatment to individuals with serve physical and mental impairments. Victory House is also a long-time leader in providing substance use disorder treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS. Victory House is a welcoming environment for men of all cultures. The program can accommodate up to 24 residents.
Victory House is our “flagship” or first housing program created by Victory Programs founders Ted Cantone and John deMiranda in 1975. At that time the building was licensed as a lodging house for homeless alcoholics. Under Victory Programs a new board of activists changed the mission to ensure that anyone in need would be accepted into the program. As a result Victory Programs and Victory House becam known tor working with dual-diagnosed men coming from shelters, hospitals, jails and the streets of Boston. Victory Program formally purchased the building in 1979. In the 1980’s Victory House was the first recovery home in Massachusetts to accept and welcome clients living with HIV/AIDS. Today Victory House, as with all of our 17 other programs, continues to receive wide recognition for its efforts to help those with multiple issues with little or no other resources or supports. Located in Dorchester New Victories was originally a program of Flynn House founded by Jack and Pat Connell in the early 1960’s with a mission of helping homeless alcoholics. New Victories was one of 5 properties that comprised Flynn Housing all dedicated to serving homeless men dealing with alcoholism in Boston. In 1993, then Flynn House director Steve Harkins initiated a relationship with Victory Programs that led to eventual merge of all 5 properties under our umbrella of services. In the mid-1990’s all of the buildings underwent extensive renovation. New Victories was the first of the five buildings to re-open and 24 men moved into the program as the first Victory Programs residents. Today all five of the original Flynn House programs operate and thrive at Victory Programs.
