Shepherd House - is a residential treatment program for women dealing with substance use disorders. A 6-month program, Shepherd House can serve up to 24 women. Services provide the residents with a bridge between treatment and re-integration into community living as they move through their own recovery. The program is located in Dorchester and is wheelchair accessible and smoke free.
Originally founded in 1974 by Marie Conroy, Shepherd House is comprised of three buildings on a hill in Dorchester. The third building acquired in 1992, is named for Jim Yetman who served as the Executive Director of the program for many years. In 1994 the Shepard House program staff entered into a formal relationship with Victory Programs to obtain assistance with program operations and management. This relationship was so successful and synergistic that the two organizations decided to merge. In June of 1995 Shepard House became a new program under the Victory Programs’ umbrella of services. Shepherd House and its three side-by-side recovery sites is one of Massachusetts’ most dynamic leaders in innovative, evidenced based practices of care and support for women in recovery |
