HPRP (Homelessness Prevention/Rapid Re-housing Program)

With many emergency shelters across Massachusetts at capacity, more than 1,000 families including 1,400 children are currently living in hotels or motels with stats support. These temporary and very expensive shelter solutions are truly inadequate for healthy family living. There are rarely cooking facilities or safe areas for children to play.

In 2009 Victory Program received funding to provide support to 50 of these families to help them relocate to permanent homes. Through our HPRP programs families receive individual case management services and assistance with housing placement. Each family has access to short-term rental assistance and receives follow-up services for 18 months after their hosing placement. Families also are connected to other resources including vocational services made available through a partnership with Project Place and other life-skills training.

Our goal through the HPRP program is to help families achieve successful housing placement and also develop the skills necessary to become financially stable and remain in their homes. The funding for this program comes from federal stimulus funds administered by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
